Sneak Peak- mini fey dolls

A little sneak peak at a project that is still in progress. It's mostly hand sewing which I've never really done. Figured would give me a good little project i could practice on while I'm watching streams online or t.v.

Still working on a name for them, let me know if you have any ideas. I've considered poppet dolls, mini fey, Thimble dolls (decided they aren't small enough for this one)

oh look a cute little couple

11cm obitsu doll body aka Thumbelina

So I saw these released and was so excited to see them in person. It's an obitsu body fully poseable and jointed like my 27cm one (barbie size) but this one is super tiny. It's 11cm which is the approximate same size as a little kelly doll (barbies littlest sister).

I got without magnets in the feet but even without them it is very well balanced and can stand on its own. My only complaint is the arms hands and feet are super loose and tend to fall out while dressing it. The pieces are so small I'm worried about losing them.
Well since they don't come with a head you have to buy those separately for customizing or find one you like on a similar sized doll. My hubby got me this super cute tiny "fancy nancy" doll.
I took her head off and put it on the obitsu body. She really looks great on her new articulated body. I love her little dress that came with her and it fit the body perfectly.
The shoes were only barely too small to fit on her feet so i slipped them on and kind of faked it. Her heel isn't actually all the way in.
Isn't she cute? What do you think?
I've decided to name her Thumbelina. I want to get some dollhouse furniture or house for her to use. She'd look so cute and she's the perfect size for traditional dollhouse scale.

Dolly Works in Progress

Been a long time since I posted on here but as it's a new year I decided to get my butt in gear.
This year my new years resolution is to finish more projects instead of doing them half way and then getting distracted to other things lol.

First I'm working on a Monster High Cleo doll.
So far I've removed the foil from her hair (which took forever) and started sewing the muslin of her bodice for her future dress. I plan to erase the weird blue mark on her cheek soon as well.

Then I'm also doing an Obitsu doll. I've decided her name is Nerine and she is going to be a sea nymph or water princess. So far I've put her hair up out of the way. Given her a full face paint and made her dress. Her dress is white satin with a purple cotton underskirt all tied with a white satin ribbon. Obitsu is a highly customizable fully pose-able Japanese doll. Her crown removed from a Mattel mermaid barbie and repainted. I'm not finished though and will be adding more to the crown.

Stay posted I've actually been doing way more sewing lately and will have some upcoming posts on those projects which are complete woohoo!

Dolly paint and dolly jeans

So I have this lovely Japanese 27cm soft bust obitsu my sister got me as a present.
She is fully jointed and able to pose in all sorts of fantastic ways. Then she got her a pretty blue haired head with blank face for me to paint.
I love the blue hair its shiny long and soft and reminds me of mermaids.
I decided she would eventually be made into a loosely greek themed water or sea nymph.

So I started her face up and am really loving all the blues and greens. She seems much nicer now that she has an actual face. I really like the shape i made her eyes although they still need some highlights, and eyeshadow.
Then I decided to make some dolly jeans from my friends leftover scraps. She loves to cut up her pants to make shorts. I used this blithe doll pattern.

The pattern was super easy to put together and I love the flared legs!
Hardest part of the whole thing was turning the legs right side out at the end.

They sit a bit funny on her hips since she has way bigger hips then the blithe doll, but over all I adore how they came out.

If you are interested in getting obitsu's for yourself we buy ours from Junkyspot.com

Moxie Fusion Doll

So I saw this cutey at Kmart and had to buy her right away. It is a Moxie doll released by MGA Entertainment.
Apparently it was because they were sued by Mattel over their Bratz dolls and Mattel won. So now they've come out with these much cuter (less slutty) looking dolls.
Well at first glance I loved how they have cute anime like faces, and super long thick hair, and darling outfits.
Once I got her home I found that the body was quite small compared to the head, had no pose-ability and worst of all there are no feet. Where feet should have been are little stubs which shoes attach to. This is well known for Bratz as well, except the bratz feet don't fit the moxie ones, and there is no accessory pack for moxie feet, so you are stuck with whatever style you have. Which to me defeats part of the purpose of a fashion doll; dressing them up and accessorizing.

Do not be dismayed though we have fixed the problem and it turned out beautifully!
Mattel has released a fully poseable barbie line known as Fashionista's.
So we put the Moxie head on the barbie Fashionista body.

Tada! First of all it looks a lot more proportional and makes the barbie much prettier.
I love the poseability and especially being able to have different shoes on her.

Here she's dressed in various styles and with her hair done. The moxie heads have a lot more hair, its a lot longer then barbies, and quite a bit softer too.

I plan to design some cute doll clothes for these fusion dolls, and have also been experimenting with giving them elf ears. More to come......

WIP Elf BJD in sculpey

So currently I'm working on making my own ball jointed doll in sculpey.
It really was the first time I've tried sculpting anything that wasn't bowl shaped and even though proportionally quite off I think she's turning out rather cute.

I especially love her ears and face. I wanted a smaller elf doll. When doing my research I found most ball joint dolls are humongous where I wanted something smaller and cute. Hardest part I'm having right now is stringing the legs up through and finding a good hook for them to attach to the head.

I'm using super sculpey which I'm loving how it looks although there is tons of sanding to get it where I like. The hair is finely separated strands of embroidery floss. I couldn't find doll hair even close to the green I wanted for her sylvan hair. When she is finished I'll be making her a spouse a cute fey man to frolic with her. I'm thinking of giving him a cute leaf hat and wheat gold hair.
